Dr Miles Larmer is an Associate Professor in African History at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on central and southern Africa, primarily Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the mid-to-late twentieth century. He has written on mine communities, labour unions, opposition parties, contested nationalism and Africa’s experience of the Cold War.
His most recent book, co-authored with Erik Kennes, is The Katangese Gendarmes and War in Central Africa: Fighting Their Way Home, published by Indiana University Press in 2016.
